Summer is coming to an end and back to school season is here. This year let your smartphones and tablets help. Lindsey Granger has three must-have apps that will make the transition a little easier.
1. Pet Bingo
It's not too late to brush up on those math skills, thanks to Pet Bingo. It’s a fun game for kindergarten through fourth-graders that is aligned with the common core standards for math. The app costs $1.99 and helps children brush up on addition, subtraction, multiplication and more in a fun way. The game adapts to each child's skill level to ensure that the pace is challenging and fun. Once you solve enough problems to hit bingo you earn pets that you can feed and take care of. Adults can keep track of the progress in the "report card" section of the app.
If your children are heading to middle or high school they're probably taking a foreign language and Duolingo could be their best friend. The language app teaches you to read, write, listen and speak. It’s a way for children to learn a language for free, while at the same time helping to translate text from the web. Languages are split into bite size skills that feel like games. You lose a life when you get something wrong and you earn points when you complete a lesson. The app has language levels and even gives hints if you get stuck. Now they can wow their Spanish teacher with all you know.
You can't prepare for school without the supplies. RedLaser We offers the best technology out there for barcode scanning. The app allows you to scan the barcode of any school supply and immediately compare prices of the same item in other stores and online. With this free app you'll know for sure you're getting the best deal on every back to school item.
