3 stories trending right now that prove we're living in the future

When people think of the future they might think of flying cars and hoverboards; but just because we don't have those, it doesn't mean that we're still in the dark ages (We do already have self-tying shoes and robot maids). Social media, air travel, even your favorite foods are getting upgrades that'll make it feel like you live in 2055. Jared Cotter and Kristina Guerrero are giving you the scoop on how the future has already arrived.

1. In the Current Future, Everything is a TV

In the old days, people watched just 5 TV channels on a tiny black and white screens. Now, you don't even need a TV to watch TV.

Facebook has added a new application that lets you watch new and original videos, right on the site. And we don't mean videos of cats following laser pointers. You'll be able to watch original programming from big brands like Buzzfeed, A&E, and National Geographic. You'll even be able to watch live baseball games! See all the shows that'll be available on the Facebook Watch tab here.

2. In the Current Future, You Can Science in the Sky

Back in the day, people would stand outside their homes to hopefully see an eclipse (and even further back in the day, they'd think it was the end of the world). But now, you can see the August 21 eclipse - on a plane!

Southwest Airlines figured out which of their flights get you the best views of the eclipse from the air - and you can totally take one! See eclipse viewing flights here and see if you can grab a spot. They'll even give you special viewing glasses and cocktails. Booze and science in the sky? Now that's futuristic.

3. In the Current Future, You Can Eat Booze

If you're tired of taking a few bites of food and then having to lift a glass to enjoy your favorite wine, it's a good thing you live in the future because New York City doughnut shop, The Doughnut Project has just created: The Prosecco Donut. Stop everything.

This doughnut could turn the future clock back a bit, however, because if I were a scientist, I would definitely rather spend a month eating these treats than figuring out the whole flying car thing...

If you were a scientist in the "future", what would your life-changing invention be? Tell us on our Facebook page, @TheListShowTV.
