Some companies are giving you unprecedented control of your schedule for things; let's just say your dad would never have gotten away with. Donna Ruko and Workplace Legal Expert, Robin Bond, have three unusual ways people are getting time off work.
1. Half Day at Work for Game of Thrones
One television company in London allows you to take half a day after the season premier of Game of Thrones. It seems only fair because the show starts at 2 AM in England. The company feels that this creates a sense of team work.
Let’s face it, you know most of us love our pets like children and treat them like children. It only makes sense that if you're bringing home a new baby pet that you should have a little bit of time off too get the pet settled in. That's what the premise of paw-ternity. It’s a maternity program for pet owners it can be anywhere from a few hours to a few days of paid off to settle them in.
3. Unlimited Time Off
If you're lucky enough to work at Glassdoor, Mammoth or Virgin Group, you get all the time off you like. Studies have shown that people don't abuse these policies and are basically taking about the same amount of leave time as they would under a traditional policy. It's really about the positive message an employer sends of trust and teamwork.
