You may have seen alkaline or pH balanced waters popping up at your grocery store, claiming to be packed with everything you need to be healthy. But what is alkaline, and do we really need it?
Alkaline water is water that contains appreciable amounts of the bicarbonates of calcium, lithium, potassium, or sodium. That’s the definition. Does the water make a difference or is it just “snake oil?” Alkalized water may not be a miracle worker, but The List’s Teresa Strasser shares four more effective ways you can alkalinize your body from Dr. Mark Carney, ND, LAc and Robert Kachko ND, LAc.
1. Colorful Foods
We really want to be eating a rainbow of colors because the things that give the plants colors, are these amazing phytochemicals that give us health promoting properties. you want greens, healthy proteins like legumes and nuts, and cold water fatty fish in every meal.
It’s now about the types of water people are drinking, as long as it's clean and it's not polluted in any way. The docs recommend spring water from trusted sources over the pricey alkaline stuff.
That stress that's induced by not sleeping enough. If you sleep just three or four hours a night, you're already in a pre-diabetic state based on a lot of markers.
4. Light Exercise
It turns out that gentle stretching, walking, and yoga, promote better health than intense workouts.
The verdict? It's not about those $4 bottles of water!
