A Weight-loss wonder, a birthplace homecoming, and a puppy saved by booze are the incredible medical miracles on The Incredulist.
WEIGHT-LOSS WONDER: Aimee Smith loves working out. She's completed two triathlons and two half marathons. It’s hard to believe she used to weigh 427 pounds.
"There's a group of us out there who have had weight loss surgery who are athletes now. I never felt comfortable saying that," said Smith.
Aimee had gastric bypass but didn't stop after losing all the extra pounds. She got moving and not wants to move others to do the same --one step and pound at a time.
"If you can walk one step today, but that's all you can do, then try it twice," Smith said.
Her perspiration is our inspiration.
HOMECOMING: A woman returned to the hospital where she was abandoned at birth.
“It brings back a lot of emotions for me. I feel like I'm in the moment. I am a baby. This is where I was left. It's hard to believe this is where I was left. It's a bathroom,” she said.
She was nicknamed Katie 20 years ago when a couple of nurses found and cared for her before she was eventually adopted. This was the first time she's met them.
“It's just great to see this ending of a story that had a unique beginning. What a delightful young lady she is.”
Katie hopes to be a nurse herself and dreams of one day finding her birth mom.
PUPPY SAVED BY VODKA: A nine-week-old puppy was saved by drinking vodka. Cleo was poisoned and near death after licking antifreeze. His vet found a remedy that worked.
“There's toxins in that called etholyn-glycol and they're very, very harmful to the kidneys so what we need to do is give them alcohol. In this case, we gave her vodka to try and mop up some of those toxins.”
The pup is feeling better thanks to the hair of the dog.
