The power of social media during the Super Bowl

CLEVELAND - Gone are the days of giving your undivided attention during a sporting event. The power of social media is now shaping the way many of us watch sports.

Garret Kloots at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio says social media is huge when it comes to football. 

“I’m Tweeting with my buddies or texting them or on Facebook. It’s so different than it was even a few years ago,” he said. 

The remote in one hand is replaced by a smart-phone or tablet connected to Facebook or Twitter. But Kloots thinks that can be a good thing.

“You can bring more people into the fold and really change the dynamic of what you’re watching,” Kloots said. 

Of course, that dynamic, includes a lot of smack talk between friends on opposing teams, but that’s part of the game, right?

During the Super Bowl, be sure to connect with the Pro Football Hall of Fame with its newest app called,  “Inside the Huddle.” It could help you with some of your virtual smack-talk.

“It’ll give trivia questions, things like that, from the Hall of Fame throughout the game,” said Kloots.

Showing off bubble blowing skills

Put a little "pop" into your day, today and celebrate with bubble gum. In honor of Bubble Gum Day, we stopped by B.A. Sweetie Candy Company in Cleveland and the employees at the country’s largest candy store showed off their bubble blowing skills.

On average, it takes two to three pieces of gum to get a good bubble started.

Thanks to a little performance anxiety on the part of the staff, The List reporter Mike Brookbank won the lighthearted competition with a beautiful bubble that was 6 1/2 ". 

But a word of warning... be prepared for the mess that follows the fun.
