TAMPA, Fl. - Seniors may not move as fast as they used to, but that doesn’t mean their love lives have to slow down. The Senior Center in Bradenton recently held a "senior speed dating" event. Organizers gave participants eight minutes each for seven mini-dates.
“We gave them eight minutes instead of four, because their life stories take probably take a little bit longer to talk about,” said organizer Wendy Houston.
About fifteen seniors showed up for the event. Charlene Geyer, 65, said she came to find companionship from a man around her age.
"I like elderly men. I think they are more settled,” said Geyer.
Barbara Rajowksi came to the event to find a man who is mature, but still active.
“I like someone who can dance and move,” said Rajowski.
Many of the seniors left with phone numbers and plans to meet outside of the speed dating session. Bill Gillespie said the women he met can call him anytime. Looks like love could be in the air.
