TULSA, OK - Remmi Smith is not your typical 12-year-old girl. She is wise well beyond her years when it comes to cooking. In fact, she's known as the Culinary Kid and has her own cooking show.
She really knows her way around the kitchen, not just cookies or Jello. This year she is serving up an entire Thanksgiving meal for her family.
"Cooking is what I like to do for relaxation, just to help my mom," Remmi said. "It's something fun for me to do."
From start to finish Remmi knows exactly what to do and she knows it well enough to teach a rookie how to clean, stuff and cook the Thanksgiving bird.
This is just the start, when Remmi grows up she plans to become a professional chef and designer her own cookware and uniforms.
Remmi's tips for a perfect Thanksgiving turkey:
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees
- Rinse the turkey in water before cooking
- Baste the turkey and tie the legs together to keep the stuffing inside
- It takes an estimated 10 minutes a pound to cook without stuffing and 15 minutes with stuffing
