Finding happiness at work can be a little tricky so Careerbliss put out a list of the happiest cities to work in right now. They were chosen based on compensation, work environment and opportunities for advancement, just to name a few. Kristina Guerrero and Jared Cotter picked four of their favorites from the list.
4. Cincinnati, Ohio
The Queen City is headquarters for 10 Fortune 500 companies including household names like Macy's, Kroger and Procter and Gamble. Workers are happy because the average $52,000 a year paycheck stretches farther in Cincy, where the average house costs almost $60,000 less than the national median.
3. Portland, Oregon
The City of Roses is home to consumer favorites Nike and Colombia Sportswear. One thing making people happy is the lack of sales taxes. There are some serious tax business credits that make Portland an irresistible city for entrepreneurs.
2. San Jose, California
Big tech means big money. The average salary here is $82,000 a year. Getting that Google money seems to be the real key to happiness.
1. Santa Clara, California
Another huge tech city, the average salary is a whopping $97,000 a year. That's enough to put a smile on most faces.
