The Drop: New apps for movies, maps and doughnuts

iPhone users are shouting with glee over the big return of Google Maps.  This app offers user-friendly maps with built-in Google search, voice guided turn-by-turn navigation, public transit directions, street view and it stores directions from your past searches.

It's not just your phone, your camera, and your social calendar, it's your window on the world, and it'll help you find your way around it too.

Another new app comes from Amazon. It is bringing holiday jollies with its instant video app to the iPhone and iPod touch this week. The app allows members to freely access over 140,000 videos from Amazon's Prime Instant Video Service.

Also new this week, is something from Flickr. Flickr has rebuilt its app from the ground up to include 15 photo filters. Plus, the app is integrated with Twitter, Tumblr, and Foursquare, so you can show all your friends how much fun you're having on vacation while they're busy at work.

Finally, it’s the one year anniversary of the Krispy Kreme Hot Light app. With it, you can map your nearest Krispy Kreme location from your phone. In the past year, over 230,000 doughnut lovers have downloaded this free app, and conducted over 42 million searches.
