Authors give us glimpses of people at their best and their worst. It’s all about sinners and saints on this edition of “What’s Dropping in Books.”
On the Wendy Williams Show, Kathie Lee's co-host Hoda Kotb chatted about her new book "Ten Years Later."
“If you’re at that starting point in your life where your scared, or you got a bad phone call from your boss or your doctor, and you go, ‘Gosh, I don't know how I'm going to live ten minutes let alone ten years,’ you need to read this book. There are people who are so inspirational,” said Hoda.
It’s Hoda's recipe for “Chicken Soup for the Soul.”
Pulitzer Prize winning author Lawrence Wright also has a new book out about Scientology. It's called "Going Clear.” On NBC he explained it's connection to Hollywood.
“These stars have been, in my opinion, exploited to advance Scientology. People join it because of them, and therefore I think they have a tremendous moral responsibility to know what is actually happening inside the church,” said Lawrence.
Finally, on Katie, Professor David Destenos’ book, "Out of Character," breaks down why humans lie and cheat.
“I think the reason we do it is because there is something to gain. You know, we have this idea where we have an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other and as we're growing up, we learn to listen to the angel everything will be fine. But really what we've seen, is human morality is a lot more variable than that,” Destenos said.
