Are you an annoying coworker? According to a recent study by Olivet Nazarene University, there are a bunch of things coworkers do to drive their workmates crazy. Read on to find out the most offensive, irritating, and downright annoying workplace behaviors – and how to fix them!
1. Bathroom and Eating Habits
Leaving trails of food everywhere and turning the bathroom into a wreck are the worst – and twelve percent of you agree, according to the study. Experts say the best way to nix this habit is to address it with kindness and privacy. Avoid calling out cohorts in front of the whole staff. You’ll catch more bees with honey!
2. Gossip and Bullying
Most colleagues know how to act like adults with basic social skills, but unfortunately every workplace has a few bad apples. Thirty two percent of us can’t stand gossip and bullying at the office! Workplace psychology experts say if you’re dealing with bullies, before running to HR, take a deep breath and don’t let them see you sweat. They crave that reaction, so deny them.
3. Loudness and Complaining
Loud coworkers take the cake, with forty-nine percent of us wishing our cohorts would pipe down. What’s the best way to battle boisterousness? Leave your bullhorn at home and use some psychology instead. Experts explain that when you respond to a loud co-worker in a quiet voice, they will eventually mimic that behavior. Now that’s something you can toot your own horn about.
