The Wall Street Journal recently calculated the cost of a 16 oz latte in cities around the world. It would cost $7.40 in US Dollars in Stockholm, $5.65 in Brussels, but only $2.80 in New Delhi.
Most of these expensive cities are expensive across the board, but Starbucks is also a luxury item abroad. Beijing isn't a very expensive city, but a latte can set you back $4.81.
If you're looking to spend as much as possible domestically, you may want to look to Beau Chevassus. He's gotten over 300,000 views on YouTube this month for his order of a $47.30 drink. It's intense, but he saved ten cents by bringing his own cup.
At the end of last year, Starbucks introduced a $450 stainless steel gift card. You only got $400 worth of value, meaning you were paying an extra $50 for gold status and a shiny card. Still, www.gilt.com sold out of the limited edition of 5000.
It may have sounded like a bad deal, but surprising one of the stainless steel cards just sold for $1000 on eBay.
