Nothing beats a great movie, and some of the best started out as novels. 2016 is shaping up to be a big year for book-to-film adaptations. Bradley Hasemeyer has three intriguing books you should read before they hit theaters later this year.
1. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
The movie version, directed by Tim Burton, will be out September 30th, and sure the trailer gives you a taste of what to expect, but if you want the real story, you've got to check out Ransom Riggs' 2011 bestseller.
2. The Girl on the Train
This highly anticipated thriller starring Emily Blunt comes out October 7th and is based on the Paula Hawkins book that's been hailed as the next Gone Girl. If you want to experience all the twists and turns, you've got to read the book which was number one on the New York Times fiction best seller list for fifteen total weeks.
3. A Monster Calls
It's the beautiful story of a boy who seeks the help of a tree monster to cope with his mom's illness. The movie is out in December and tars Sigourney Weaver and the voice of Liam Neeson, but the book's been out for five years.
