3 Eco-Friendly Hotels Making a DifferenceLifestyle The List
LED lights, going paperless, these have become almost environmentally-friendly expectations when it comes to businesses and especially for in the hospitality industry. But some are taking eco-conscious to a whole new level. Bradley Hasemeyer has three cutting edge hotels that are making a difference.
1. Inn at the Presidio in San Francisco, CA
Our first hotel converted parts of a former military base into a luxury and environmentally sound experience within San Francisco's famous Presidio National Park. Everything you see when you enter this inn is sourced locally, which not only elevates the quality and authenticity of the local aspect, it helps cut down on the emissions from transportation, the waste and pollution produced from mass manufacturing.
2. St Julien Hotel & Spa in Boulder, CO
This hotel started its zero waste campaign in 2007 and since then they've been able to reduce waste by ninety percent. Eighty percent of the materials used by them are recycled, composted or donated, helping the hotel go from taking thirty three tons of material to the landfill each month, to only three point five, and without cutting corners.
3. Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, CA
At 128 years young, this hotel maintains its majestic look from the past, while being the oldest hotel to reach a Silver Green Seal certification. After a recent one hundred and fifty million dollar renovation, it now offers a modern, luxurious vacation experience. Since renovations, Hotel del Coronado saves more than six hundred and sixty three thousand gallons of water per year.
It’s all about taking care of Mother Earth and these hotels are definitely doing their part to make a difference.
