3 gourmet pizzas you can make with your groceries
Food The ListIf you love going out for gourmet pizzas but don't have the dollars to support your cheesy habit, don't think you have to settle for another frozen pie. Kristina Guerrero and Make-Your-Own Pizza genius, Doug Doyle are showing you how to make Food Network worthy pizzas with grocery store ingredients that'll have your tastebuds thinking they're at a 5-star restaurant.
1. Pizza Bianca
If you love white pizza and you've got Ricotta cheese in you're fridge, you're on your way to making a pizza fit for a food critic:
You'll Need:
Pizza dough
Ricotta cheese
Shredded mozzarella cheese
1 teaspoon minced garlic
Salt
Arugula (and any other toppings you think sound good!)
Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Then, drizzle and spread extra virgin olive oil on your pizza dough. Then add several dollops of Ricotta cheese all over the dough – don't worry about full coverage with the cheese; it'll spread while it's cooking.
Sprinkle a teaspoon of raw, minced garlic all over the pizza. Then sprinkle on a dash of salt. Then add a sprinkling layer of your shredded mozzarella cheese. Put your pizza in the oven until the cheese is melted, then add the arugula on top – that keeps the arugula fresher, and keeps its peppery bite.
2. The Breakfast Pizza
Who said pizza is only for eating after noon? Bring a little bit of breakfast to your pizza with this tasty recipe:
You'll Need:
Alfredo sauce
Shredded cheddar cheese
Bacon, cooked
Eggs, scrambled
Green Peppers, sliced
Parmesan cheese
Preheat your oven at 450 degrees. Take your Alfredo sauce and spread it across your dough. Then sprinkle cheddar cheese over the sauced dough. Add your precooked, chopped bacon, then your scrambled eggs. Sprinkle on your green peppers (and anything else you like in your breakfast scramble) then top your pizza off with some grated parmesan cheese.
Put your pizza into the oven until the crust is golden brown, about 6-7 minutes.
3. Pesto Chicken Pizza
Turn a classic pasta dish into a classic pizza with this pesto chicken recipe:
You'll Need:
Pesto
Mozzarella cheese, shredded
Mozzarella cheese block
Chicken, chopped
Tomatoes, sliced
Onions, sliced
Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Then spread your pesto sauce onto your pizza. Sprinkle on a layer of mozzarella cheese, then add your chunks of mozzarella cheese block. Add your chicken pieces, tomatoes, and sliced onions.
Put the pizza in the oven, and cook until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
