Tom Brady’s nutritional habits have been a hot topic for a while now. He even came out with a cook book and meal subscription service. He also recently revealed he will treat himself to a cheeseburger or ice cream every once in a while. Here are three must-try recipes from Tom’s TB12 Nutritional Manual.
1. Avocado Ice Cream
Great news, Tom Brady will eat ice cream! But there’s a catch – it’s avocado ice cream. Tom says this is his favorite recipe in his nutritional manual. Below is a healthy alternative recipe to one of our favorite desserts.
1/2 cup raw cashews
1/2 coconut meat
1 1/2 pitted dates
1 cup raw cacao powder
1 1/4 cut electrolyte-infused water
Throw all ingredients in a blender, blend well.
Place in a container and freeze until thickness desired.
So Tom likes sweets – but what about the most important meal of the day? Try this fiber and protein-packed frittata recipe by Chef Brady.
1 medium potato
1 whole egg
1 egg white
1/2 Tbsp. water
1 to 2 Tbsp. coconut oil
1/2 to 1 Tbsp. garlic
1/4 cup broccoli florets (or cauliflower – or both!)
1/4 cup brown or red rice (cooked)
Handful of collard greens (chopped)
1 Tbsp. basil (picked)
Salt and pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 375°. Scrub potato under cold water, dry, and bake for 25–35 minutes. Remove potato from oven, let cool, and then dice small.
In a small bowl, whisk egg and egg white with 1/2 tbsp. of water. In a nonstick pan, sauté 1/4 cup potato in coconut oil over medium heat until crispy. Add garlic and broccoli and cook for 1–2 minutes. Add rice and collards and cover for 10 seconds, or until collards are wilted.
Pour egg mixture evenly over vegetables in the pan, then sprinkle basil on top. Season with salt and pepper. With a rubber spatula, lift the edges of the frittata as it cooks, allowing the runny egg mixture to seep below until it becomes firm enough to flip (about 2–3 minutes). Using the spatula, flip the frittata over and finish cooking for 1 additional minute. Move frittata to a cutting board and slice into wedges.
3. Superfood Green Smoothie
Eating healthy and satisfying your sweet tooth are touchdowns in our book – so here’s another recipe that accomplishes both those things! Try Tom’s Superfood Green Smoothie, which is delicious as it is refreshing.
1/2 cup chopped pineapple
1/2 cup chopped mango
1/2 cup chopped papaya
1/3 starfruit (optional)
1 tsp spirulina
1 tsp lucuma powder
3 cacao beans or 1 tsp cacao nibs
3/4 cup fresh water
Blend all ingredients until combined—frozen fruit will make the smoothie thicker—and enjoy!
