Prepare your pup for the hot summer ahead with these frozen treats. petMD has a few that are pet-safe, so Donna Ruko decided to try them out! Here are three positively pleasing & palatable pupsicles your dog will flip for.

1.  Watermelon & Ginger Pupsicle

Combine 1 teaspoon of fresh minced ginger root and 5 cups of watermelon and puree. Place in ice cube trays and freeze overnight.

The ginger is an anti-inflammatory and settles yucky tummies, while the watermelon’s high water content keep your pup hydrated in the hot summer months.

2.  Peanut Butter & Yogurt Pupsicle

In a small cup layer 1 oz of yogurt and 1 oz peanut butter. Stick a milk bone in it as the stick and freeze overnight.

Greek yogurt has good bacteria for your dog’s digestive tract and the peanut butter is a good source of protein and healthy fats.

Don’t use sugar free yogurts or peanut butters – they contain sugar alcohols that are highly toxic to dogs, which can lead to seizures, coma, even death.

3.  Wet Food Pupsicle

Place 2oz of your dog’s favorite wet food in a small cup with a milk bone as the stick and freeze overnight.

Just be sure to decrease the amount of food you normally give them at feeding time to account for the calories.

All of these treats are best served outside where they won’t make a mess.
