It's heartbreaking to see signs up on the street for lots pets, but sometimes they get out and might not be able to get home. If this happens to you or someone you know, Kristina Guerrero's three things you've got to do help get your pet back home.
This is one of the most important things you can do to make sure your pet comes back home if it gets lost. A microchip with your and your pet's information is imbedded under your pets skin - but don't worry, they won't even know it's there and the procedure is super fast.
If your pet gets out, anyone who finds it can take it to a shelter or veterinarian and they can check the chip to find you. And keep the tag updated - it increases your chances of your pet getting home by a lot.
2. GPS Trackers
There are collars you can get for your pet that have chips or technologies that can help you follow your pet's path and hopefully find them.
There are also tracker collars that have alarms on them that you can set boundaries for. And if your pet crosses those boundaries, the alarm will go off so you can hear that they're escaping and follow the sound to them.
3. Social Media
Some people might think the web is too big for them to bother posting about a lost pet, but every local area has a social media site for lost pets; so jump on Facebook and contact local shelters. And try other sites like LostPetUSA.com or PetFinder.com to post about lost or found pets.
