3 Tips to Ace the App-Based Job InterviewTechList The List
When we applied for a job, it used to be we'd wait for a phone call. Now millions of job-seekers are getting an email telling them to download an app to complete their first-round interview. Jimmy Rhoades and Hire Story’s Theresa Mahe have three valuable tips that will help you ace this tricky new hiring process.
1. Act Like You're There
Treat this like a real interview. So dress the part, get the environment ready and make sure you're ready to answer these questions as you would if you were sitting face-to-face in front of someone.
2. Look In the Camera
One of the most traumatizing parts about the video interview is not actually having a person to talk to. Make sure that you're still giving that face-to-face feel for the employer by looking directly into the camera.
3. Check Your Frame
Be aware of what's behind you. Are there things that are inappropriate? Are there things that might be distracting? Are there too many things? Is it cluttered? These are all important questions to ask before starting your video interview.
