3 Ways to Give Your Dog A Professional Groom At HomeDIY The List
Having a dog at home is one of the sweetest things in the world…except maybe on bath day. But you don't have to pay more money at the groomer's to keep your pooch looking good without stressing out. Just use these 3 DIY dog grooming tips brought to you by Kristina Guerrero, Galloping Groomer's Jeanne Campbell, and Kristina's pup, Jeter, that you can use at home!
1. Bust out the Brush
Make sure you brush your dog before giving them a bath. This helps you get out any mats or tangles, making bath time go smoother, and helps you keep an eye out for anything that doesn't look quite right on your pup. Plus, brushing counts as bonding time!
2. Trim-Paw, Baby
Some fur babies have a little bit of hair everywhere; if your pup needs extra trimming around their ears, neck, and face, remember that their skin is sensitive in those areas. Save money by trimming the fur on their bodies, legs, and tail; then take your pup to the groomer for those special trims.
3. Clip Those Claws
Long nails on your pup can affect their posture and how they walk. Give your pup a leg up by keeping their nails trim as close to the quick as you can get without cutting it. Try to trim your dog's nails at least 1-2 times a month – and pro tip, giving your dog treats as you trim can help them get more comfortable with the process!
