4 Healthy Ways to Eat Fast Food for Breakfast, Lunch & DinnerLifestyle The List
Fast food – there's no denying that Americans eat more than what we probably should. We all know it's not the best way to nourish ourselves, but with hectic schedules and rushed lives, sometimes it's our only option. Well, we're here to tell you fast food doesn't have to be all bad. Nutritionist Jolene Goring is showing us how to eat fast food-style meals that are good for you and will still taste delicious.
1. Breakfast at Starbucks
Like a lot of breakfasts, your first healthy option starts with coffee. Jolene recommends choosing an Americano as your go-to drink at Starbucks. You can do one pump of your favorite flavor like vanilla, and it would only add 20 calories, topped off with coconut milk. For breakfast you can do the Sous Vide Red Pepper Egg Bites and finish it off with a piece of fruit, like an apple or a banana.
2. Lunch Time at Subway
Subway has something called a "Fresh Fit Menu." It's a whole list of menu items under 400 calories. They're also lower in sodium, and each option has two servings of veggies. You can also add meat and cheese – just be sure to go light on those and choose the six-inch option on wheat or nine-grain bread. Jolene also says to eat some fruit for the extra fiber and avoid sugary drinks.
3. Dinner at Chipotle
Finally, set the dinner table with a salad bowl from Chipotle. It starts with lettuce, you can add some beans for protein and fiber, and top it off with some roasted veggies and guacamole too. You can also add beef, chicken or if you don't eat meat, you can go with Sofritas, which is organic tofu. If you go light on the cheese and use tomato salsa or hot sauce instead of dressing, you'll be saving yourself around 250 calories and 700 milligrams of sodium.
