Our dogs deserve the best, especially when it comes to their birthdays. When it's your furry friend's special day, what better way to show your appreciation for them than to bring in their birthday with a bang. We headed to the Arizona Welfare League to show you how to throw your pup the perfect paw-ty!

1. Canine Cake

Here's an idea for a treat your pup can actually eat – a home-baked canine cake. Of course, keep in mind the ingredients that are meant for dogs, such as pumpkin, apple sauce and peanut butter. Also remember to avoid chocolate and lots of sugar. Those baking mixes that are meant for humans sometimes have chemicals that really aren't good for dogs.

2. Picture Perfect Puppy

You want this to be a day to remember, so get your pup looking picture-perfect and set up your own DIY photo booth. Make it as fun as you'd like with funny photo props like feather scarves, glasses and even cute costumes.

3. Pet-Friendly Piñata

And to keep your human guests entertained, no birthday party is complete without a pet-friendly piñata. Instead of candy, you can fill it up with treats so your friends with no thumbs can also enjoy this party classic.

4. Doggy Bags

While we all hate to see a great party end, give your guests a special thank you treat with doggy bags. Just fill them up with puppy treats, and a small squeaky toy, and you'll be all set. Great goodbye gifts guarantee that all those furry friends will want to return for the next birthday bash.

Whether you get your doggie a delicious cake or a photo booth with friends on their special day, remember to make it special. Because to them, their next birthday feels like it's seven years away.
