4 Ways to Launch a Successful Crowdfunding CampaignTechList The List
Crowdfunding has turned a whole lot of dreams into reality, but there are some important rules to follow that will give you a better chance of success on popular sites like Kickstarter and Indiegogo. Ransomly’s Zach Prager and Sourcify’s Nathan Resnick are sharing four winning steps!
1. Make a Video
Focus on your target audience and make a fun video that will speak to them. The worst videos are just a guy sitting in front of the camera explaining his product. You want to be able to showcase your product in a light that tells a story and show it in use you know, don't just explain it. And of course a good video needs a good videographer. An affordable option could be as close as a local university where students are looking to build their portfolio.
2. Pick the Right Platform
There are hundreds to choose from but one of the most recognized is Kickstarter with a success rate of 35 percent. It has a bigger user base, it has more traffic, and it's just a better chance of getting your funds. On this one it's all or nothing, which means you get zip if you fall short of your goal. Indiegogo is also another great one to go with.
3. Set Smart Goals
Make sure you understand your costs, you understand your timeline, you understand your shipping costs and then when you set that goal you need to have at least 30 percent funded in the first day. It's like a bartender putting their own cash in a tip jar — it helps to get the dollars flowing, so crowdfunders should do the same.
4. Go For It
Following those tips should prepare you for the last step, hitting launch! You're going to learn so much no matter what happens and you'll get better and better just like in anything else. It's as simple as that just do it.
