4 ways to make music with weird junk from homeThe List Trending
Think it's too late to pick up playing a musical instrument? It isn't! And you don't even have to go to the music store and fight off middle school kids for saxophones and clarinets. You can make awesome music by just picking yourself up a BMX bike and heading to the bike park. No, really! Electronic producers Big Miz and Bessa collabed with BMX rider Kriss Kyle to make this pumping jam – all, with Kyle's bike:
If you don't think you can ride a BMX bike to make music, don't fret (heh, fret…); we found 3 other crazy musical instruments, you don't even have to leave your house to play – and bonus – you don't have to go to the Juilliard School for Music for four years either.
1. Handmade Hardware Guitars
If you've got a garage, you've got a music store. These two street performers play sweet tunes with a broom and a shovel. So, ditch the chores, slap some strings on those things, and get to jammin' like these guys.
2. Play With Your Vegetables
Musician Linsey Pollak is great at making weird instruments out of typical things but his pièce de résistance? The carrot clarinet, or as one Youtuber called it, a "carronet". Ha!
3. Lap Skate Guitar
Never quite get the hang of riding that skateboard? Is your board just hanging out in your closet with old toys? Turn your sad, old board into a lap guitar! Mom will be thrilled to (a) know that you found a new hobby and (b) know that you actually found something to do with that darn board, other than "try to break your neck".
4. Tummy Talk
If you don't have a garage, a skateboard, or even vegetables, you can always just rock out on your own bod, or someone else's bod, like the guys of Tummy Talk. So after dinner tonight, practice your new talent by slappin' that post-burger belly.
