5 Things in Your Kitchen That Will Never ExpireFood The List
Canned and dried foods have a long shelf life, but no matter how well packaged or stored, almost all of them eventually lose their nutritional value and spoil… almost. Lindsey Granger has a list of foods that'll go the distance… because they never expire!
1. Dried Pasta
As long as your pasta is tightly sealed away from moisture and insects, it can last forever. Be sure to keep the storage temperature at 70 degrees.
Pure honey is as durable as it is delicious. Don't worry if it changes color or crystallizes – it's still safe. The National Honey Board says it can last centuries. Just make sure it's stored in a cool area.
3. Distilled White Vinegar
The Vinegar Institute conducted studies and confirmed that vinegar's shelf life is almost indefinite. Because of its acidic nature, vinegar is self-preserving and doesn't even need refrigeration. Just store it in a cool, dark area.
4. Maple Syrup
The Maple Producers Association says unopened, maple syrup will last forever. It may darken, but the flavor won't change.
The higher the alcohol percentage and proof, the longer liquor will last. Spirits that are above 40 proof will never expire. Cheers!
