5 Ways to Turn Old Produce Into Tasty TreatsFood The List
Around forty percent of all food in the U.S. goes to waste. What a tragic stat, and a lot of it is just because when we see it looking a little past its prime, our first instinct is to throw it out. Stop! Bradley Hasemeyer has ways you can turn food that's past its prime, into tasty treats.
Are your tomatoes looking a little tuckered out? Just slice them up and chop a garlic clove. Now, toss them in a pan with some olive oil and give it a stir. After just a few minutes on high you’ll have the beginnings of a delicious pasta sauce.
This is a simple, but great trick. Throw your grapes in the freezer, and then once they’re frozen you've got a healthy refreshing snack for you and the kids. And you can even keep your wine chilled with them!
Throw your old basil in a blender with some olive oil and blend away. The resulting puree works great on pasta, or liven up a salad dressing with it.
Slice it up and toss it in enough oil to fully coat. Add salt and pepper and then roast at 450 degrees for approximately 15 minutes. YUM!
Change a thin, watery soup, into a thick delicious meal by crushing up stale bread and mixing it in. Just make sure it's only stale and not moldy.
