Academy Awards: Oscar Predictions Based on Zodiac Signs
Lifestyle The ListThe 90th Academy Awards are around the corner, and the stars will be out – on the red carpet and in the cosmos! Think you know who will win? We spoke with astrologist Jim Ventura who predicted which nominees will win based on their zodiac signs.
1. Best Actress
The ladies are up first on our list! Who will take home the Oscar for Best Actress? “We see this movement of female energy moving in and taking a lot of power,” says Jim. Read on for each nominee’s chance of winning!
Margot Robbie
Margot Robbie portrays disgraced skating champion Tonya Harding in I, Tonya? “Strong Cancer and Capricorn chart for this nominee,” reveals Jim – which is a combination geared toward success later in life. "Not this time around, I'm thinking.” Better luck next year!
Sally Hawkins
Sally Hawkins impressed critics with her role in The Shape of Water. Can she impress the heavens? “We've got a Taurus sun and an Aries moon,” shares Jim. “That's a strong, grounded, but kind of brave combination. There is a possibility she can take it." We’ll cross our fingers for you, girl!
Saoirse Ronan
Saoirse Ronan, another Taurus sun and Aries moon, is the leading lady in Lady Bird. "Future success is eminent,” Jim predicts, “but I'm not feeling like she's necessarily going to take it this time." Sorry, honey!
Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep, nominated for The Post, is a Cancer sun and Taurus moon – and the perennial Oscar favorite! So will she take it this year? "No surprise for multiple successes,” Jim says. “She's my second choice on who's going to win this." Someone, light her some prayer candles!
Frances McDormand
Here’s another Cancer sun and Taurus moon! It looks like Frances McDormand’s work in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri will take the cake. "Being that protector of the young – that nurturing Cancer influence coming into play…This is just a really strong roll, with the strong astrology to back it up,” Jim projects. “So, I think she's going to take it this time.” Break a leg, sister!
2. Best Actor
Now lets’ talk about the fellas! Who will win the award for Best Actor?
Timothée Chalamet
Our youngest nominee is Timothée Chalamet for Call Me by Your Name, who has a Capricorn sun and Pisces Moon. “Sun in Capricorn [means] success – big success [that] usually comes later in life." At 22 years old, he’s still got plenty of time to win an Oscar!
Daniel Kaluuya
Daniel Kaluuya, a Taurus with Gemini moon, is nominated for his role in Get Out. "Not surprising from the astrology that he got nominated – but I still don't feel it's necessarily strong enough." Sorry, boo!
Daniel Day-Lewis
What about Daniel Day-Lewis's final performance in Phantom Thread? "We've got, again, a sun in Taurus-moon in Aries individual,” exclaims Jim. "I think that there's just a few more contenders with a little stronger astrology this time around to take this."
Denzel Washington
Denzel Washington, nominated for his screen time in Roman J. Israel, Esq., is a Capricorn with Aquarius. "As one gets older, these really will pay off,” Jim reveals. "He's my second choice."
Gary Oldman
How about Gary Oldman chances for his role as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour? "Here we've got someone with a sun and moon in Aries,” mentions Jim. “My pick is Gary Oldman for best actor." Congratulations, Gary!…we hope.
3. Best Director
Movies wouldn’t be possible without the other leading men and women behind the camera. Who will take the prize for Best Director?
Christopher Nolan
Let’s talk about Christopher Nolan’s hand in Dunkirk, who’s a Leo with a moon in Cancer. “You get that dash, that pizzazz, that showmanship of Leo, with the warmth of Cancer,” notes Jim. "There's some real potential with this."
Jordan Peele
First time director of Get Out, Jordan Peele is a Pisces with a moon in Sagittarius. "There's some real versatility,” observes Jim. "But I still don't feel it's strong enough to take the Best Director win."
Greta Gerwig
Another first timer, Greta Gerwig, is up for the award for Lady Bird. “The strength of Leo, the virility of Gemini – a win, I'm not so sure of,” Jim opines. We guess the bird isn’t the word for our girl Greta!
Paul Thomas Anderson
Next up is Paul Thomas Anderson for Phantom Thread, who’s a Cancer with an Aries moon. “Here's another envelope push,” says Jim. "I see a few other contenders that have a little bit of a stronger push."
Guillermo del Toro
And finally, there’s Guillermo del Toro for The Shape of Water – who’s a Libra with a moon in Sagittarius. "He was born in sixty-four,” Jim begins. “People with that had a very strong Virgonian conjunction, so you get perfectionists. He is the likely one to actually take this.” Woo hoo!
