Back to school time is upon us! As summer comes to a close, kids are prepping to hit the classroom for another school year. And while supplies can cost you big money, it doesn’t have to be that way. 1. Free School Supplies in Illinois
A slew of community organizations in Southern Illinois are joining forces to provide low-income students with free school supplies. On July 28, Black Diamond Harley-Davidson of Williamson County is handing out free backpacks stuffed with goodies – and free haircuts! On August 4, the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson County hopes to gift students up to 1,000 backpacks. And on August 6, Little Chapel Church in Saline County will being giving out hot meals, clothes, haircuts, and 500 backpacks accompanied with school supplies. We’re so touched to see a community come together!
2. Office Depot’s Back to School Sales
Office Depot always has amazing back to school sales. Right now they’re offering their Office Depot Brand Filler Paper (100 pack) for $0.85. You an also grab some 70-sheet spiral notebooks for $0.25 each. Index cards are an amazing tool to help your kids study and master any subject. The Office Depot Brand has their 100-pack of ruled index cards now for $0.50.

4. Target’s Back to School Sales
Surprisingly, Target didn’t have a huge selection of back to school sales under $1, but there were a couple options to consider. They’re offering a box of Crayola Crayons (24 count) for $0.50 and Crayola’s Ultra Clean Washable Markers (10 count) for only $0.69.
5. Free School Supplies in Jefferson County Public Schools
If you live in Louisville, Kentucky, here’s an opportunity to snag some back to school freebies. Jefferson County Public Schools is hosting several events through mid-August where students and parents can receive complimentary school and health supplies. Walmart’s back to school sales are a little tricky. Act quickly, because many items are expected to sell out fast online. If they do sell out, check your nearest location for in-store availability. Prices may vary by area, but for the most part, prices are pretty consistent across the country. Some of their best deals include 12-inch rulers for $0.76, Crayola 12-count colored pencils, and binder pouches for $0.97 and Crayola Line Markers (10-count) for $0.97.
Your local Walgreens is also a great place to catch some amazing back to school salary. Like Walmart, their prices may vary per location. 8. Sales Tax Holidays
If you live in Tennessee, here’s a back to school sale you can’t refuse! The state is holding its annual sales tax holiday starting at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 27th, and ending Sunday, July 29th at 11:59 p.m., according to freetaxweekend.com. Sales tax holidays will happen later in the week for other states, such as August 1st through the 5th for Wisconsin; August 3rd through the 5th for Florida; and August 10th through the 12th for Texas. Some states have their tax-free weekends canceled, so make sure to check back to the website for full details.
9. Free School Supplies in South Carolina
If you live near Clover, South Carolina, head to Bethel Presbyterian Church on August 3, where students will receive free school uniforms and supplies.
