Time to throw on that cape and mask! It’s the 80th anniversary of Batman and fans are celebrating the caped crusader all year long with free Batman 80th anniversary events and more! Wanna get in on the fun? Here are three fun ways to honor the beloved Dark Knight.

1. Batman 80th Anniversary DC Comic Issue

For starters, legendary DC artist and writer Jim Lee has us soaring through the pages of the Batman Detective Comics 1000th issue. “It is about 100 pages worth of great stories featuring the world’s greatest comic writers and artists,” says Jim. As a bonus, a brand-new villain is bashing his way into the saga. “They introduce a character called the Arkham Knight,” reveals Jim. “He will prove to be a very interesting antagonist to the Dark Knight.” He’ll join the legendary list of super villains on the receiving end of a batman-beatdown. “There are not a lot of characters that were published in the late 30s that are still relevant and as iconic as Batman is today,” adds Jim. True that!

2. Batman Day 2019

Next, honor the Dark Knight on September 21st for Batman Day. Warner Brothers and DC comics are joining forces with cities around the country to bring fans exciting festivities, like bat caves, obstacles courses and tons of photo ops. There are also costume contests with prizes, and batman-themed charities.

3. Comic Store Events

Finally, celebrate the superhero with special Batman 80th anniversary comic store events. Mike Banks, owner of Samurai Comics in Phoenix, Arizona, says to check out your local stores and to score exclusive deals on Batman comics and other free Batman 80th anniversary events. And to make your binge reading even better, May 4th is Free Comic Book Day. “We’ll have plenty of stuff we’re giving away that day,” says Mike. “We got a cool DC Year of the Villains comic that’ll feature some of the bad guys, Joker and more from the Batman universe.” Count us in!
