Black History Month: Celebrating 3 amazing people
Entertainment The ListFebruary is all about celebrating the achievements of African-Americans, and honestly we'd be here for a long time if we tried to highlight everybody, so let's start with a few of the amazing people doing extraordinary things.
1. Ava DuVernay
She is the first African-American woman to be nominated for best director at the Golden Globes. Her film Selma is about Martin Luther King Jr's historical march in Alabama and raked in over $66 million at the box office.
2. LeBron James
He's arguably the best basketball player of a generation – even bringing an NBA championship to his hometown of Cleveland, but LeBron is also known for giving back in big ways. Currently he’s busy awarding 1,100 children with $41 million in college scholarships through the LeBron James Family Foundation, proving to kids that if they apply themselves, hard work pays off.
3. Michelle Obama
She’s a woman who has made history over the last eight years. From the moment she walked into the White House she reminded us of our history. She’s forged her own path through the clothes she wears, to her passion to get America fit.
