It’s no secret that dating sites have taken over our love lives – and it’s tough enough to worry about whether to swipe left or right on dating apps. Now you have to worry about a “desirability gap” – things that make you more or less attractive. Relationship expert and author of How to Be Irresistible to Men, Michael Banovac, is explaining how men and women can have optimal digital desirability.

1. Play the Game of Probability

First up, it’s all about playing the game of probability on dating apps. “Playing the game of probability is knowing that when you are matching with people […], there are so many people that won’t be attracted to you, and it has nothing to do with you,” explains Michael. “It has to do with numbers and probability.” So as you’re swiping, don’t try to make a love connection with every person on dating sites. How often should you expect a good connection? Michael says usually you’re going to get a match within every probably 10-15 people.

2. Send Short Messages on Dating Sites

Once you’ve found matches on dating apps, be sure to send short messages. “When you write these novels, people are like, this person is way too boring for me. That’s what they think in the back of their mind,” reveals Michael. So when is a good time to have those deep conversations about life? “The deep conversations should be saved to when you actually meet someone in person,” he adds. In other words, Michael says your desirability score decreases as your messages on dating sites get longer: “Ninety-five percent of communication is nonverbal, so it’s not what you say – it’s how you say it. And when you’re saying too much of it, you’re losing attraction.”

3. Use Emojis on Dating Apps

Next, use emojis in your conversations! What are good emojis to use on dating apps?

“I use ‘LOL’, crying-laughing, I use the winky face a lot, and I really like the smiley face with the teeth showing because you want to show levity,” shares Michael. “You want to make the other person laugh, guy or girl – that’s the most attractive quality.”

4. Don’t Add on Social Media

And our final tip for making yourself more desirable o? It’s ok to look your date up, but don’t immediately add them on social media. “Make sure that when you’re stalking someone, don’t follow them, don’t add them – just do it secretly,” warns Michael. Oh, and make sure you don’t accidentally like their photos either!

If you’re looking to be more successful on dating apps and dating sites, now you’ve got four tips to help you!
