After a long week at work you probably want to treat yourself to something nice like a movie or some time out with friends and the kids; but then you look at your bank account and the balance just says "Lol, no." But treating yo'self to a good time doesn't have to cost a lot – if you do it the smart way. Jared Cotter and Kristina Guerrero have 3 new tricks, apps, and services getting you more fun for less.

1. The Powerball Hack

There's no easier way to treat yourself than to hit the lottery; but, as we're sure you know, it's kind of hard to win. But you can increase your chances of hitting it big, without losing all your cash first: Don't enter every lottery or Powerball that pops up. Save your money and then buy lots of tickets for one drawing, which can increase your chances of winning the prize and making it rain.

Just remember which TV show gave you the tip that helped you win…

2. The Parenting Hack

Kids can be expensive and getting them out of the house can be too. The app Yellow was set up to be an easy way for kids 12 and over to make friends with other kids remotely; a cool idea, but unfortunately, it has no age verification system. If you have a kid who might have the app, check their phone so you know who they're talking to.

You can still want give your kids a chance to make friends while under your roof by offering them a cool app that's made for them and takes the proper security steps. Check out's list of social networking apps – they rate different social apps on their security, parental controls, and even tell you if the app has adult content or if it isn't safe – More at-home fun for the kiddos; less worrying for you.

3. The Movie Night Hack

If you and the kids are fans of watching movies, but hate how expensive it can be to see your favorite flicks, consider the subscription service Moviepass. The service lets you pay under $10 a month to see any film at any theater, once a day. Genius!

Finally – a reason to run to the movies other than getting a chance to stare at your favorite heartthrob. And the popcorn, of course.
