One thing people agree on? Donuts – and the fact that they’re amazing! But this conversation gets a lot more complicated when you see what Donut Bar founder Chef Santiago has done with ’em. Here are a few easy donut recipes to have your taste buds thinking outside the box.
1. French Toast Donut
First on our list of easy donut recipes? A French toast donut! This breakfast treat includes custard, which you can take over the top with vanilla paste, Triple Sec, and real Vermont maple syrup. Get the full recipe below.
A half dozen large cinnamon sugar donuts.
1 Tablespoon half and half
1 Tablespoon of brown sugar
2 Tablespoons real maple syrup
1 Tablespoon vanilla bean paste
1/2 teaspoon triple sec
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Cut donut tops and bottoms off, set aside. Whisk all the ingredients together. Dip donut in custard. Griddle in non-stick pan until golden brown on each side. Enjoy!
2. Grilled Cheese Donut
Here’s a grilled-to-perfection dish that helps you level up by using two donuts as buns around two different cheeses. This is one of those easy donut recipes that’ll have you craving seconds!
2 large cinnamon sugar donuts
2 pieces of American cheese
2 pieces of Havarti cheese
Cut donut tops and bottoms off, set aside. Butter both sides of each donut. Brown both sides of the donuts. Put all the cheese on one donut and top with the other donut. Add a tiny bit of water to the pan and cover to steam the grilled cheese (about 1 minute). Flip and repeat. Then enjoy.
