Jazz Festivals 2019: Best Jazz Fests in New Orleans, Jacksonville & RochesterAcross America
There are hundreds of jazz festivals across the country every year. Some have been going for over 50 years! That’s a lot of wailin’ sax. Here are three of the biggest springtime favorites.
1. New Orleans Jazz Fest 2019 – New Orleans, Louisiana
Let’s start our list of 2019 jazz festivals in the Big Easy for the 50th Anniversary of the New Orleans Jazz Fest. Gospel singer Mahalia Jackson kicked off the first New Orleans Jazz Fest back in 1970, and the event has gotten a lot bigger since. Around 400,000 music fans descend on this fiesta. In fact, it’s so huge that it even draws non-jazz superstars like Katy Petty and Chris Stapleton, as well as lesser-known up-and-comers. Bonus: there’s a motherload of Cajun cuisine and one-of-a-kind arts and crafts. The New Orleans Jazz Fest runs from April 25th through May 5th with tickets starting at around $75.
2. Jacksonville Jazz Festival 2019 – Jacksonville, Florida
Let’s continue our 2019 jazz festivals tour by heading east to the Sunshine State for the 2019 Jacksonville Jazz Festival. On Memorial Day weekend, Downtown Jacksonville goes mad for jazz. The 2019 Jacksonville Jazz Festival is the second largest in America with two stages and ten blocks of music, food, shopping and entertainment. And best of all, it’s free! The 2019 Jacksonville Jazz Festival kicks off May 23rd and goes through the 26th.
3. Rochester International Jazz Festivals 2019 – Rochester, New York
Finally, let’s end our road trip of 2019 jazz festivals in New York for the 2019 Rochester International Jazz Festival.
