Marijuana Movies: 5 Weed-Inspired Films to Watch This 420Entertainment The List
4/20 is a big day for that special sector of the population we call potheads. And while you may not share their affection for the festivities, you can still enjoy them on the big screen. Here's a list with our favorite "high-larious" movies you should check out today.
1. Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke
It's been 40 years since the dynamic duo lit up the screen in Cheech and Chong's Up in Smoke and they are celebrating their first feature film with a re-release of it on Blu-ray, an updated track, and an exhibit at the Grammy Museum. Well-deserved for the pair of potheads who helped create the genre.
2. Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle
This classic is all about stoners and sliders, as the toasted two-some embarks on an epic quest for the ultimate munchie fix: White Castle! Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle featured the return of Neil Patrick Harris and rolled out two sequels, including a Christmas film. Yes, you read that right – a holiday movie.
3. Pineapple Express
Things get out of control in Pineapple Express when a server witnesses a murder while puffing up. James Franco plays his drug dealer in the film co-written by star Seth Rogen. And he didn't just write the film – Roger was rolling every joint himself, including the legendary cross-joint.
4. The Big Lebowski
Next, a soiled rug and a case of mistaken identity? Sounds like the makings of a perfect stoner film! Having the same name as a rich guy leads to a crazy situation as criminals try to collect the millionaire's wife's debt from the weed-loving dude. While The Big Lebowski was a box office dud, it later became a cult favorite that was selected for inclusion in the Library of Congress's National Film Registry.
5. Dazed and Confused
The last day of school can be epic but only if you can remember it. An all-star cast (before they were stars!) plays teens looking to drink and blaze the night away. Fans' love for Dazed and Confused spilled over into the soundtrack – the album of 70s tunes went double platinum in 1997.
If your plans for 420 include nostalgic laughs and chill, then this is your perfect go-to guide for the best high-larious stoner films of all time.
