Most Commonly Misspelled Words of 2018 Based on U.S. State
BuzzList The ListRecently, Google put out a list of the most misspelled words according to the state you live in. Beware, you’d never guess how many people who live in “America the Beautiful” are butchering the word “beautiful.”
1. Résumé
The word résumé was the most misspelled in three different states: Colorado, New Jersey and New York. If spelling isn’t one of your job skills on a résumé, you could maybe take a page out of Elle Woods’ book and give it a pink and scented makeover.
2. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
Can you blame these states for not being able to spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious? The word was the most misspelled in Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Oregon, Texas and Georgia. And if you didn’t know, the fourteen-syllable word means good or wonderful. But for Mary Poppins fans, it’s a lyric to a classic song.
3. Beautiful
Finally, taking the number one spot for the most misspelled word on Google’s list is beautiful. A total of eleven states had this one as their misspelled word, probably because of that silent “A.” The states include Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts and eight others.
