October Deals 2018: 11 Places Giving Away Free Food & SalesDeals Food Money Top of the List
Every month has its best buys, and October is no exception. And we don’t just mean pumpkins, pumpkin spice lattes, or pumpkin pies. We’re talking about October deals on clothes, travel, and more! The List spoke with The Penny Hoarder’s savings expert Lisa Rowan, who shared some of the month’s best buys. Plus, we rounded up some food and drink freebies to look out for!
First on our list of October deals? Tacos! October 4 is National Taco Day, which means tons of restaurants are giving free and cheap tacos. So gather your friends, order a pitcher of margaritas, and enjoy some tacos. Check the social media pages of your favorite taco joint to see if they’re offering a discount this year. And don’t forget to read our article here on all the places giving away Taco Day deals and freebies.
Next, you’ll find October deals on denim! You wear it, you love it – now Lisa says you can buy it at a discount. “You always see back-to-school sales in July and August, and retailers know that families are stocked up on a lot of those back-to-school clothes,” says our expert. “So come October, they’re offering pretty big discounts on denim, especially around that Columbus Day holiday weekend. So you’re looking at jeans for 40 to 45% off, or even a ‘buy one, get one’ deal.” So now’s the time to take the plunge and luxuriate in the Canadian tuxedo of your dreams.
3. Fuzzy’s Taco Shop
Third on our list is Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, which is currently offering free chips and queso to customers who donate $2 to No Kid Hungry – or organization dedicated to fighting childhood hunger. Fuzzy’s has over 100 locations nationwide. Click here to find one near you.
4. Outdoor Deals
Also look out for October deals on outdoor gear, like patio furniture and grills. “These items are always introduced in the spring,” says Lisa. “And then they get discounted in the fall, because retailers need to move them out for the holiday items.” That’s right: the criminal known as “Santa” is to blame. “You’re looking at discounts anywhere up to fifty percent off, so it’s about maybe thinking about if you have storage space available for something you might not be able to use until next spring,” adds Lisa. Bah! Who says you can’t use patio furniture in your dining room?
As of this article, 7-Eleven is offering a free 12 oz. Red Bull when you purchase two. Click here for even more 7-Eleven deal and freebies.
6. October Deals on Holiday Travel
Look out for October deals on holiday travel. This one’s not about discounts, it’s about timing. “There’s a sweet spot for buying holiday air fare, and it’s about three months before the anticipated trip,” offers Lisa. “So if you’re thinking about traveling for Christmas or the New Year’s holiday, now you’re in a sweet spot – not necessarily because there are sales, but because this is the time when you can really compare prices…Those airfare rise as the dates get closer, and there’s more demand. So fire up your favorite travel aggregator and set up an alert now for that December trip.” Duly noted!
