Pet Adoption: 3 Reasons Senior Shelter Dogs RuleLifestyle The List
It's National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, but you know what dogs often get overlooked? Senior dogs! Jared Cotter talked to Steve Greig who's a senior dog Instagram sensation. He’s sharing three reasons why you should consider adopting a more mature pet.
1. They're Calmer Than Puppies
Steve says that everybody is amazed at these hidden jewels of pets. They're so much lower on energy so there's not a lot of the chaos that you get with the younger dogs. They're great dogs for going on short walks, sitting with you watching TV, or just hanging out.
2. There Are Fewer Surprises
There's not a lot of the training that you have to go through with older dogs because most of them are already house broken and they are so happy to have a loving home.
3. You're Saving a Life
Of course, you get attached and it's awfully hard when you lose one, but just remember that it's not about you, it's about that dog having a good life and that helps tremendously. It's a great decision you're not likely to regret.
