Flamin' Hot Cheetos are getting their own movie! That's right, a film about the inventor's infamous snack is in the works. To celebrate the movie's pending release, we decided to turn the fiery snack into some wacky new snacks. Here's our top three favorite recipes to set your sweet tooth on fire.
1. Flamin' Hot Candied Bacon
We bet you've never had candied bacon like this before. It's the perfect combination of sweet and spicy for those days when you can't decide if you feel like having breakfast or a crunchy, delicious snack. So what are you waiting for? Let's bring home the bacon – literally!
1 pound bacon strips
½ cup maple syrup
¼ cup brown sugar
2 cups finely ground Flamin' Hot Cheetos
Preheat oven to 400F.
Combine sugar and ¼ cup Cheetos in a bowl.
Pour syrup into a separate bowl.
Dip bacon strips in the syrup, then generously cover both sides of the bacon in the Cheeto mixture.
Bake at 400F for 20 minutes until browned and crispy.
Let cool before eating. They'll crisp even more out of the oven.
2. Flamin' Hot Fruit Bars
Don't discard the idea of mixing fruit with your Hot Cheetos. This might not sound super appetizing in the beginning, but don't knock it 'til you try it!
1 cup dried figs
½ cup pecans
½ cup dried apples
½ cup dried dates
¼ cup honey or agave syrup
1 nine oz bag of Flamin' Hot Cheetos
Any dried fruit you like in any combo will taste great!
Combine all ingredients in the food processor bowl.
Pulse briefly to begin to combine.
Process continuously until It's all combined, one to two minutes.
Spread into a square pan sprayed with a little oil.
Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Cut and serve.
3. Marshmallow Treats
Finally, give your teeth a workout with Flamin' Hot Marshmallow Treats. That's right, yet another unusual pairing for these snacks that you must try out. We know you'll love it as much as we did!
1 bag standard marshmallows
2 nine oz bags of Flamin' Hot Cheetos
3 tbsp butter
2 tbsp chili powder (optional)
Dust marshmallows with chili powder for added heat.
Melt marshmallows in the melted butter, stirring regularly.
Turn off heat and add Cheetos. Stir until combined.
Transfer to a pan, even out, and let cool completely.
Cut and enjoy.
