Spring Cleaning Hacks: 3 Commonly Forgotten Places to CleanLifestyle The List
Spring brings warmer weather, but it also comes with cleaning your home! Normally we know to hit the obvious areas, like carpets, windows and drapes. But let's look at some secret spots you may forget to clean. Linda Cobb, better known as The Queen of Clean, is giving us the scoop on three commonly missed places.
1. Throw Pillows
Raise your hand if you neglect to dust your throw pillows! Linda says these need some love once or twice a year, and her secret is taking a dirt removal sponge to do that. You can get these at places like Home Depot, Lowe's, and Bed Bath and Beyond. They're used dry, and they're like a big brick eraser. The sponge crumbles as it whisks away dirt and hair as you wipe. So, you'll want to do this over a sink!
2. Base Boards
The second area that gets overlooked are base boards. Linda recommends cleaning base boards once a year with a $15 tool called the Base Board Buddy. It makes the job super easy and affordable. But, if you want to save a few bucks more, you can wrap a towel around the bottom of a broom to wipe away grime too.
3. Artificial Flowers
Our artificial flowers do so much to make our house look beautiful, but how often do we show them some love? Give them a good clean and dusting a couple times a year. An easy way to do this is with a hair dryer, or even a can of air duster.
4. Bonus Tip: How to Get Rid of Carpet Dimples
You may have moved your furniture around to clean every nook and cranny of your space – but what if you end up with unsightly carpet dimples? Don't worry, there's a simple solution for that! All you have to do is cover the dimpled area with ice, let the ice melt, and then take a fork to tease the carpet fibers up until the dimple is gone. Now that's what we call a forklift!
Spring cleaning time is here! And while we always think of our baths, kitchens and floors first – now you know which spots need some TLC, too.
