As summer starts wrapping up and we start thinking about fall, it might feel like we're entering the chilly, sadder part of the year. But with pumpkin spice treats, a chance at a million bucks, and the ability to pay for stuff with your smile on the way, the end of 2017 isn't as daunting as it seems. Kristina Guerrero and Jared Cotter are shedding a little light on your day with the sweetest trending news so far this week.
1. Pumpkin Spice Up Your Life
If you're one of the millions of people that have the return of the beloved pumpkin spice latte circled on their calendar, your wait is almost over. According to Fortune.com, Starbucks employees at some locations say that PSLs will start becoming available this week, but if you can't spare the gas mileage to visit your nearest Starbucks every day, check out @The-Real-PSL on Twitter and Instagram for hints about where you might be able to find your pumpkin spice fix.
2. Coca-Cola Pay Day
Coca-Cola has taken it upon themselves to be the soda for people who don't like soda. A lot of people think sodas in general are too sweet, so Coca-Cola is looking to get more consumers by finding a natural, no- or low-calorie substitute for sugar.
If you think of a substitute that Coke can use and send it their way, you could win up to a million dollars! You can also win $100,000 by telling Coca-Cola how you sweeten your favorite foods and beverages in new and different ways. If you want to take your chance at a whole lot of moolah, head to the Sweetener Challenge site for rules, guidelines, and more info.
3. Smile for the Money
If you're in China and you don't have your wallet on you, don't worry! You can still pay for your needs and wants with your smile. New technology from company Alipay uses facial recognition technology to confirm your identity and take care of your transaction for you. Talk about a reason to show off those pearly whites.
