Let’s take a stroll into the world of “The Future Is Now…” NFTs or Non-Fungible Tokens can be a tough concept to grasp, but they’re here to stay so we’re going to do our best to wrap our heads around them. To see them in practical use we talked to Scottsdale, Arizona Based Hairstylist Dallas Taylor, who actually uses NFT’s as currency in his salon. He explained how they work, and the benefits.

What is an NFT?

When you have a car, you have a physical piece of paper to represent that you have title. NFT’s are basically a digital version of that title showing you have ownership of this digital item. A lot of NFT’s are in the form of digital art made famous by collections like Bored Ape Yacht Club — but you can turn anything into an NFT — videos, photography, digital wearable items, contracts, concert, tickets– the sky’s the limit.

Digital membership.

If you were to buy one of Dallas’ NFTs, you’d gain access to his salon and of course haircuts. To buy that NFT, you’d go on opensea.com and pay with cryptocurrency. Then, pop into the salon, show proof of purchase and snip snip. And a membership means bonuses — Dallas sends out “hair drops” which are like digital coupons that can be redeemed for hair products. So you get your haircut, and you have a piece for your Virtual Gallery, which you can enjoy or potentially resell for more money.

Finally — a deeper connection.

Dallas says using NFT’s have given him a deeper connection to his clients — he goes so far as to say the whole haircut experience has gone to the next level. But it doesn’t end there — in the future he’s hoping to manifest Custom NFT’s — meaning every person that gets their haircut, will leave with their own custom NFT of the work Dallas did on their hair.
