These 5 states can’t spell and we’re here to explainLifestyle The List
If you can't send an email without spell check making you look good, you're not the only one. Google put out a list of America's most misspelled words by state and some of the flubs that appeared are surprising – one state even spells its own state's name wrong! But maybe there's more to the misspelled words story – Lindsey Granger and Jane Solomon of Dictionary.com are breaking down the country's most confusing vocab words, one syllable at a time.
1. Beautiful – Most Misspelled by California, New York
For all the beautiful scenery and hipster poets these states have, you'd think they'd get used to writing the word down; but maybe they work in more auto-correcting mediums that do all their transcribing for them. Those things make it way easier to create, man.
2. Tomorrow – Most Misspelled by Arizona
While this might seem like a silly spelling issue to have, maybe AZ citizens aren't getting a fair shake. It's hard enough to exist when it's 112 degrees outside; forget trying to spell anything correctly.
3. Chihuahua – Most Misspelled by Arkansas
The most popular dogs in Arkansas are Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds, and Beagles, so, you know, Chihuahuas just might not really be the state's "thing"…It is probably hard to go hunting with a dog that's the same size as the thing you're hunting.
4. Hallelujah – Most Misspelled by Indiana
While a majority of the people in this state are pretty religious, they've got a hard time figuring this word out. In fairness, it is a word that's said more than it's read – but it is also a word found a lot in religious writing, so, maybe there's more than a few memory verses going unmemorized…we won't tell, though.
5. Wisconsin – Most Misspelled by….Wisconsin
We'd think of another piece of comedic commentary about this last one, but we think it kind of wrote itself.
