Top 3 crazy museums across AmericaLifestyle The List
The Smithsonian Institution and the Metropolitan Museum of Art are great, but if you want to really expand your horizons this summer, Jared Cotter found some crazy museums across America that'll blow your mind in a whole new way.
1. International Spy Museum in Washington, DC
It’s the only museum open to the public in the United States that is dedicated to espionage. The obvious place to have this is Washington, DC, there are more spies here than anywhere else in the country. You can run missions, climb through air ducts, and help the good guys unscramble a decrypted message. In order to see this stuff you would need to know someone who works for a spy agency — well here you don't need that.
2. Neon Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada
Now this is the one on the list that won't keep you cool, because it's outdoors. The museum's mission is to preserve the history of Las Vegas signs for educational, historic, arts and cultural enrichment. Not only can you learn about the history of neon signs in Las Vegas, you can do hot yoga in the boneyard. It’s a nearly two acre outdoor campus which features more than 200 signs, seven of which are restored. You can also book a wedding or event in the former La Concha Motel lobby which houses additional reused signs.
3. Museum of Ice Cream in New York & Los Angeles
This cool spot is filled with delicious attractions such as edible helium balloons and a chocolate chamber. The museum is open seasonally so check their website for more details.
