Top 3 gadgets for the home to help you go greenTechList The List
With the cost of energy ever-increasing, homeowners are looking for the next big thing in saving money and the planet. Kristina Guerrero has three household innovations, coming this year that will help you go green and even save you some green.
1. ZERA Food Recycler
Families throw away on average over four hundred pounds of food to the landfill every year. That makes food waste the third top emitter of greenhouse gases behind the U.S. and China. Take those food scraps and turn them into something useful without having to leave the kitchen. Traditional composting takes up to a year and creates a pile of rotting food in your yard, but not anymore thanks to this cool invention. ZERA takes a week's worth of family food waste and turns it into compost in 24 hours. It will be available for around $1,199 later this year. if you think that sounds pricy, home-fertilizing your garden can save you hundreds in groceries and yard upkeep every year.
2. Orison Energy Storage
We all know that we need to get away from fossil fuels and add more clean, renewable energy into the grid. Orison created panels and stand-alone energy storage units that you don't need an electrician to install. It enables you to charge when rates are low and discharge back into your home when rates are high. The $1,600 price tag sounds like a lot, but similar products hover around $4,500. It will be available this spring.
The average household uses 32 gallons of water a day. How do we save 98 percent of our water without losing our functionality? Altered Nozzle creates a heavy mist that uses only 2 percent of traditional water flow and gets the same jobs done. Use their "Saver Mode" for bigger jobs and still save 85 percent of the water. It fits into your existing tap without adapters and you can pick one up for around $34 this spring.
