There are times that architects go over and beyond when creating a new structure — From the window to the wall, Brian Corsetti found some of the craziest building shapes across America, based on architectural ingenuity, and wow factor.

1.  Longaberger Basket Home Office in Newark, Ohio

There are a lot of things you can do with this building, but its best use is a working office space. The outside is made of stucco over steel, creating the look of an actual Longaberger basket, while protecting itself from the outside elements.

2.  Community Bookshelf in Kansas City, MO

This one is perhaps the most novel idea. It’s a book shelf shaped parking structure at the Kansas City Public Library. From Mark Twain to Lord of the Rings, this $50m structure has a total of 22 books picked out by Kansas City citizens.

3.  Experience Music Project Museum in Seattle, WA

Designed by world famous architect Frank Gehry — this building still sparks controversy about its beauty, or lack thereof. An interesting fact – If the structural steal from the outer layers of the building were stretched into the lightest banjo string, it would extend one fourth of the way to Venus!

4.  Dog Bark Park Inn in Cottonwood, ID

Here you can sleep inside the world’s biggest beagle at the Dog Park Inn. Its ribs are made of wood, the skin is concrete stucco, and the ears are made of outdoor carpeting that flap in the wind. Make sure to book a reservation because they fill up quick.

5.  WonderWorks in Orlando, FL

Inside this cool building is a museum with fun activities like a bed of nails and kids get a chance to play with human size bubbles. The builder used light weight materials such as wood, foam and plaster, while saving the bricks and steal for the real structure.
