The Department of Defense recently released video of Navy pilots tracking an unidentified flying object speeding over the ocean. No, you're not losing your mind. There have been over 430 UFO sightings this year. And people love to celebrate little green men at festivals all over the country. Read on for three of the freakiest festivities across America.

1. McMenamin's UFO Festival – McMinnville, Oregon

First, prep your landing gear for McMinnville, Oregon where you’ll find the McMenamin's UFO Festival. This event celebrates the 1950 UFO sighting by farmer Paul Trent, who took one of the most famous photos of a flying saucer. The festival features a parade, live music, costume contests, an alien abduction 5k race, costume ball, and a guest speaker series. The fest takes place at the Hotel Oregon from May 17th to the 19th.

2. Roswell UFO Festival – Roswell, New Mexico

Next up, let’s head to the southwest for the Roswell, New Mexico UFO Festival. Let your freak flag fly at the self-proclaimed UFO capitol of the world, where America’s obsession with extraterrestrials began. The fest hosts a ton of events – including an electric light parade, alien pet costume contest, music, street vendors, and so much more. The event takes place from July 6th through the 8th.

3. Out of this World  – Edinburg, Texas

Finally, let’s fly east to Texas for the Edinburg "Out of this World" UFO Festival and Conference. How did it originate? In 1966, eight men digging a gravel pit were buzzed by a UFO. They say they burned a huge ditch in the earth and destroyed a nearby building. Transport yourself to this free event that features art, food, live music, costume contests, and an alien autopsy tent. The festival and conference are held on April 13th and 14th.

The truth is out there, folks – and now you know of three extraterrestrial festivals to help you find it!
