Vero vs. Instagram – 3 Ways to Pick the Best Social Media Tool for YouUncategorized
The Pew Research Center released its survey on the social media landscape, which shows that while we all have online lives, we're living them in different ways. So where should you virtually hang out? We spoke with social media expert Tami Brehse to help you pick the right platform for you!
First on our list is Pinterest. It's visual, it's handy, and skews heavily female. Is Pinterest something you should try? “Let's say you're a young woman, and you love to cook,” begins Tami. “Pinterest is gonna be an amazing platform for you. People are always on there looking for recipes, great healthy cooking, and advice.” You just might cook up a large following on this tool!
Next, there's that presidential favorite, Twitter – which isn't usually a primary online home, but rather used in conjunction with other sites. “If you're an aspiring comedian, you're clever, you're witty, or maybe you like to talk politics – Twitter is going to be a great place to be seen,” reveals Tami. How funny can you be in 280 characters?
3. Instagram and Snapchat
If you're young, or just have youth appeal, your online fits may be Instagram and Snapchat. Instagram and Snapchat are home to 71 and 78 percent of 18 to 24-year-olds – over 80 percent of whom check 'em every day. For Snaps, think spontaneous. And for Insta, keep in mind visual appeal. “People love to see those beautiful, eye-catching pictures in their feed,” says Tami. Happy snapping!
Finally, there's the latest social media sensation: Vero! Vero launched three years ago, and is only now blowing up. Tami pegs it primarily as a competitor to Insta. “It still displays pictures in chronological order, so it's not so geared toward advertisers, which is the way Instagram kind of went.” So think visual, but you might get pushed down your friends' feeds faster. So maybe be spontaneous and post more often, too. Think of this thing as an Insta-Snap hybrid!
