It’s a new year and that means it’s time to start creating new goals! One of the best ways to make sure you achieve them is to keep them front and center in your mind. So, The List reached out to Co-Creator of the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series and world-renowned Personal Development Coach Jack Canfield to help us create dynamic vision boards to kick off 2019 right.

1. A Picture is Worth 1,000 Words

Jack’s first tip for success is: a picture is worth 1,000 words. “The best way to achieve your goals is to keep them top of mind so you’re always looking for ways to move yourself closer to them,” he explains. “And a vision board is the perfect tool to help you do that.” You can use magazines, stickers, quotes and more, but pictures are some of the best tools to use.

2. The Law of Attraction

We’ve heard about Jack’s next tip, “The Law of Attraction,” but we need to remember that it works! He says that using a vision board helps you program your subconscious mind using the law of attraction, which basically says that you attract what you focus on. “The subconscious mind is much more powerful than the conscious mind,” he says. “I’ve been using vision boards in one form or another since the 1970’s. I started by literally having a $100,000 bill on my ceiling that I would wake up every morning and I would see it first thing after waking up.”

Jack saw that each day, but he also used the last tip on our list to eventually make it happen.

3. Affirm and Visualize

It’s not enough just to create a vision board, you have to actually spend time looking at it, then visualizing it. “Every morning when I would wake up, I would visualize that,” he says. “I would close my eyes, I would visualize my $100,000 lifestyle, what it would be like and where I would live.” So, hang your board somewhere you can see it and each day, use present-tense affirmations as if you’ve already accomplished what you want.

The new year brings 365 days of new opportunities, and a vision board will be sure to keep you on track to success.
